Apex Magnetics

Apex Magnetics build the highest-gauss PEMF devices made in the United States, by hand, in a workshop in Northridge. The founder's whole pitch is that he publishes real specifications where competitors publish a peak number and stop. His site, a page builder template, made that hard to see: two identical homepages, no canonical tags, and no page at all for the equine buyers who are a real share of his market.

Built for a real business before they asked, from their own published material. Not a client at the time of writing.

What the crawl found

The homepage existed at two addresses, byte for byte the same file, with nothing telling Google which was real. No page on the site carried a canonical tag. The coils page had a title promising body mats, equine loops and travel cases, and two headings under it with no content.

The specification sheet stated the slew rate in tesla where the homepage stated it in gauss, a factor of ten thousand apart. Their own video title used gauss. For a company selling on published specs, that is the one error worth a quiet word.

Search for a PEMF machine for horses and Apex is nowhere on the first page, while a competitor takes most of the results. There was no page on the site written for that buyer.

The physics, made draggable

A magnetic field loses most of its strength in the first four inches, which is the whole argument for a 32,000 gauss machine over a 500 gauss one, and it is an argument a paragraph cannot make. The build has a slider: drag to a depth and watch what is left of each machine's field.

At six inches the Aura 9000 is still delivering eleven times what a typical device manages against bare skin. The curve is the standard on-axis coil equation, tuned to match the sixty percent loss Apex documents, and the page says so. A number that cannot be defended is worse than no number.

Next to it, an animated comparison of a spark gap discharge against a solid state wave, their own frequency spectrum chart, and their own videos, loaded only when someone presses play.

A configurator instead of a chat bot

Every page on this site says some version of you will be talking to the engineer. A chat bubble contradicts that, and a manufacturer's site must not drift into medical or veterinary advice. So this build has a configurator instead of a chat concierge, on purpose.

Instead, three questions: who it is for, whether it travels, and what they run today. It recommends the machine, the coil and the build options from facts already on their site, and the send button opens the contact form with those answers written into the message. The engineer gets a qualified lead, not a transcript.

The measurements

Both sites were run through the same mobile performance test. Their current site scores 47, with the largest element painting at 19.5 seconds. The build scores 97, painting at 2.2 seconds, with zero layout shift. Accessibility and best practices both score 100.

The build is hidden from search while it is a demo, so it cannot compete with the site it is meant to replace.

What was built
  • Seven pages, phone-first, in their own brand teal
  • Interactive depth simulator with an honest model behind it
  • Waveform comparison and their own bench data and videos
  • Three-question configurator that pre-fills the enquiry
  • An equine page, for the market they were invisible in
  • A repairs page aimed at owners of the brands they service
  • Organization and Product schema, replacing a LocalBusiness type
  • Self-hosted fonts and a 97 mobile performance score
