RTaylor Digital is a one-person web design and local SEO business in Boise, Idaho, run by Richard Taylor. This page describes exactly what this website collects, why, and what happens to it. It is written to be read rather than to satisfy a checklist.
What I collect when you request an audit
The audit form at /start asks for the following. Every field except your phone number is required to produce the report:
- Your first name and email address
- Your business name, business type, and website address
- How you prefer to be contacted, and your phone number (optional)
- Your answers about what takes up your time, your biggest frustration, your timeline, and your budget range
Answers are saved as you go, step by step, not only when you reach the end. If you start the form and leave halfway, the answers you already gave are stored and I may see them. That is deliberate, so I can follow up if you gave me an email. If you would rather that did not happen, do not enter your email address.
What the site records automatically
Every visit, whether or not you fill in anything:
- Which pages you opened and in what order
- Which links and buttons you clicked
- How far down each page you scrolled
- The website that referred you, and any campaign tags in the link you followed
- A coarse device type — “mobile”, “mac”, “windows” and similar. Not a device fingerprint
- A random session ID held in your browser's session storage, not a cookie
This is first-party analytics that I built and run myself. It is not an advertising pixel, it does not follow you to other websites, and it does not attempt to identify you personally unless you type your details into the form.
There is currently no Google Analytics, no Meta pixel, and no advertising tracker on this site. If that changes, this page changes first.
Why I collect it
- To produce and send the audit you asked for
- To reply to you, and to follow up if you did not finish the form
- To see which pages and buttons are working, so I can improve the site
I do not sell your information, rent it, trade it, or hand it to advertisers. There is no circumstance in which I would.
Who else handles it
Running a website means other companies touch the data on my behalf. These are all of them:
- Vercel — hosts the site and processes the requests your browser makes
- Upstash — the database where form answers and usage records are stored
- Resend — sends the notification email when someone requests an audit
Each is a service provider acting on my instructions, not a party I share data with for their own purposes. If I add another, it gets listed here.
Artificial intelligence
Some websites I build for clients include an AI assistant that answers visitor questions. Where one is present, the messages a visitor types are sent to an AI provider to generate the reply, and the widget says so.
This website does not currently run one. Nothing you type here is sent to an AI model. If I switch one on, this section changes before it goes live.
How long it is kept
- Usage records — automatically deleted after 12 months
- Audit requests and the answers in them — kept while we might reasonably still be talking, and deleted on request at any time
Your choices
Email richard@rtaylordigital.com and ask me to:
- Send you everything I hold about you
- Correct anything that is wrong
- Delete all of it
I will do it within 30 days and I will not ask you why. There is no form and no account to log into — it is one person reading his own email.
To stop the automatic usage recording entirely, use your browser's Do Not Track or private browsing mode, or block /api/track with any content blocker. The site works normally either way.
Children
This is a service for business owners. It is not directed at anyone under 16 and I do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has sent me something, email me and I will delete it.
Security, honestly stated
Data is held with reputable providers, transmitted over HTTPS, and the admin view is password protected. That said, no small business can promise perfect security, and I am not going to pretend otherwise. Do not send me anything through this site that would seriously harm you if it leaked.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes will be noted on the site rather than quietly slipped in.
